Strontium and Lead Isotopic Analyses in Environmental Forensic Investigations

Contamination of groundwater, soil, and ecosystems by a wide variety of contaminants continues to be a major concern to geoscientists in the industry and academia.  This course introduces attendees to strontium (Sr) and lead (Pb) isotopes as tools that supplement both light stable isotope and basic geochemical data in assessing:  (1) remedial techniques to employ at a site: (2) who is/are the responsible individual(s) to pay for remediations, and (3) apportioning liability among responsible parties.  Introductory concepts will be provided along with numerous case studies and attendee worksheets to evaluate their understanding of the concepts introduced.
