517 U-Pb Geochronology, O and Hf Isotopes, and Trace Element Geochemistry Applied to Detrital Minerals
Participants will be introduced to the fundamentals and applications of U-Th-Pb geochronology, O and Hf isotope geochemistry, and trace element geochemistry, especially as applied to detrital minerals. The course is ideal for faculty members, graduate students, and undergraduate students who are interested in learning more about these methods, and how they can be applied to studies of provenance and source terrane characterization. Course content will cover the basics of each method and also explore applications that emphasize integration of information from various methods. Material will be presented in lecture/discussion format, as well as with examples from real data sets.
