515 CANCELLED-New Approaches to Date Brittle and Ductile Deformation.

Numerous recent studies have highlighted research areas in petrochronology, thermochronology and investigation of techniques that allow to constrain the evolution of deformation zones through time in geological terranes. Constraining the timing of brittle and ductile deformation, such as in high-angle normal or strike-slip faulting, folding and ductile shearing, is technically challenging. The short course will present new approaches of age determinations from cataclastic K-feldspars of brittle faults, dating of folding events by 40Ar/39Ar analysis of synkinematic muscovite, and dating of ductile shearing events by 40Ar/39Ar analysis of synkinematic muscovite and sericite. Also, how to separate mineral grains and dating procedures will be shown. This short course could improve the deformation dating, and proceed the geologists' understanding of deformation development - deep to shallow and dates to rates. Moreover, through these new approaches on syn-kinematic growth mineral dating, it will be with a particular focus on interdisciplinary studies aiming at linking tectonic chronologies to tectonic stress, temperature, fluid circulation, and exchanges of minerals during various deformation conditions.
