505 Resistivity Surveying: Getting The Best and Making The Most From ERT and Induced Polarization Data.
This workshop on electrical resistivity and induced polarization is suitable for participants at any stage of the career tree, from students to faculty members, early career geologists to seasoned professionals looking to cement their knowledge or broaden their horizons. It starts with basic theory, looking at what the fundamentals of collecting good data are. This will include the most common mistakes made, based on many years’ experience of ABEM technical support. We will look at the principles of 1D, 2D, 3D, and time-lapse measurements, their advantages and necessary considerations, and case studies, including engineering, environment and minerals, will illustrate this section. We will go through the set-up of a 2D profile (albeit virtually) to show the data collection process and show how the lessons we’ve learned translate to real-world measurements—In future years, we hope to be able to offer this component outside and in person. The workshop will continue by looking at the QA (quality assurance) methods and data processing steps we can undertake to ensure production of the best possible final model. The session will finish up with visualization of the data and a Q&A session, with the training materials available to take away.
