532 Methods and Geological Applications in Geo-Thermo-Petro-Chronology II

Day II of this short course (532) will focus on methods and applications of diffusion-based thermochronology and petrochronology. Topics will include an introduction to diffusion, garnet geochronometry, (U-Th)/He thermochronology, Ar/Ar geochronology and thermochronology, and U-Pb dating and geothermometry techniques in phases such as apatite, titanite, and rutile. Topics will incorporate a mix of theory, application, and hands-on activities. This course is geared toward any geoscientist wanting to learn about these topics, including faculty, professional scientists, graduate students, and undergraduate students. We encourage participation in both days, but each day can be taken as a standalone course. Day one of this short course takes place on Friday (509).
