517 Methods and Geological Applications in Geo-Thermo-Petro-Chronology II
Part II of this short course will focus on methods and applications of diffusion-based thermochronology and petrochronology. Topics will include an introduction to diffusion, garnet geochronometry, (U-Th)/He thermochronology, Ar/Ar geochronology and thermochronology, and U-Pb dating and geothermometry techniques in phases such as apatite, titanite, and rutile. Topics will incorporate a mix of theory, application, and hands-on activities. This course is geared toward any geoscientist wanting to learn about these topics, including faculty, professional scientists, graduate students, and undergraduate students. Part I of this short course takes place on Friday (505).
