SC25RM2 3-D Thinking through Structural Measurements: How Analog Measurements Preserve Spatial Awareness and Measurement Accuracy

This short course will provide a hands-on overview of how to take a variety of structural measurements with the main current models of Brunton Compasses: the Standard, Geo, and Axis transits and the TruArc15 and GeoLite baseplate compasses. Lauren is the inventor of the Axis transit, so time will especially be spent exploring its methods since they are relatively new. Comparisons between analog and digital measurements and techniques will also be practiced, and we will discuss the benefits of analog techniques for preserving accuracy, spatial awareness, and pedagogy. Brunton compasses will be provided for the demonstration. Participants may bring their own compasses and/or digital devices. Participants of all experience levels and backgrounds are welcome.
