Exploring Science and Policy at Geological Sites
Join GSA staff for an interactive session exploring how government policy shapes geological research, land use, and energy innovation. The first portion will provide an overview of the foundational systems that govern geological field sampling in the United States, with contemporary examples focused on paleontological resources. The second portion will examine how geoscience informs the policies that guide energy security and land management, highlighting the intersection of science and policy in permitting and resource decision-making—and the vital roles played by agencies, scientists, and professional societies like GSA.
