Abstract
The selenium content of the soil in the Ankang region in southern Shaanxi Province, P.R. China was analyzed by Hydride-Atomic Fluorescence Spectrometry. A selenium resources distribution chart of the arable layer of soil in the Ankang region was made using ArcGIS software and the Kriging interpolation method. It was found that the selenium content of the arable layer of soil in Ankang region was uneven. The selenium content of the soils in the south was relatively high while in the north it was relatively low. The average selenium content was 0.5677 mg/kg, and the soils that contained selenium in the range of 0.2-3.0 mg/kg accounted for 51.90 % of the area. Therefore, the Ankang region is very suitable for natural selenium-rich agricultural production due to its moderate selenium content of the soils.
