Abstract

Students used LiDAR images and ArcGIS™ to map various glacial landforms to create a lab exercise as a mini project in the Physical geology course at Delaware County Community College. The exercise includes: measure size, area and extent of three different glacial features. Using these maps they determined the flow direction and which features are erosional and which are depositional and to describe how the various features were formed. The students then imported the data into ArcScene™ to view and analyzed in 3D which includes an estimate of the volume of deposited glacial material.
