Abstract
This study seeks to better understand the tempo and distribution of magmatism in the southern Coast Mountains batholith through U-Pb geochronology and spatial analysis of magmatic ages. New zircon U-Pb ages are 149-59 Ma; planned work will expand on this dataset and include titanite U-Pb ages. Spatial analysis of new ages, combined with published ages, reveal magmatic patterns in the southern batholith unlike those of the well-studied northern and central batholith. In contrast to the northern batholith, Late Cretaceous magmatic ages in the southern arc vary significantly along strike of the batholith, and appear substantially wider.
