Abstract

The Mississippian Lime (Miss Lime), that underlies a large portion of Northern Oklahoma and Southern Kansas, is a carbonate formation that primarily produces oil. In the Anadarko Basin, the Miss Lime is a primary reservoir for oil and gas, particularly the upper “Chat” formation. In the past decade, with recent advances in horizontal drilling, exploration has been targeting the lower part of the Miss Lime, but with mixed success. The goal of this project is to investigate what parameters influence the reservoir quality of the lower Miss Lime. We present the preliminary results of a subsurface analysis that combines well-log analysis, core description, and production data. This research will yield important results for production purposes in the Anadarko basin, and will provide a potential analog for other fractured carbonate reservoirs worldwide.
