Abstract

Mount Xuebaoding (5588 m asl) is located in the Sichuan Province, eastern Tibetan Plateau, typical glacial landforms, especially moraine series in the alpine area. 10Be exposure dating method was carried out to define the chronology of the moraines. The dating results reveal glacial advance event from prior to Lateglacial (older than 14.1 ka), Lateglacial (12.6 ka, 12.4 ka), Early Holocene (9.34 ka) and Neoglaciation (2.34 ka and 1.69 ka).

These glacial stages are consistent with other recalculated ages from surrounding regions throughout the monsoon-influenced. The poorly defined pre-Lateglacial likely occurred during the global Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) or older, and during the well-defined Lateglacial there exist two glacial advance events represented by two moraines, the data indicate two fluctuations during Younger Drays (YD). The result of the present work obtain the viewpoint that Xuebaoding glacier is at least in response to the decreased temperature in North Hemisphere.
