Abstract

Saraycık formation which represents the top level of Kargı Ophiolitic Melange is composed of radiolarite, chert, metadiabase and basalts. Saraycık formation and Kargı Ophiolite are transitive as vertically and laterally. It overlies the autochthonous Bekirli formation via thrust faults. The pillow lava which located in the upper level of the unit resides near the thrust contact. The basalts include feldspar, clinopyroxene, volcanic glass and opaque minerals. Showing plastic texture rocks has been cut by secondary quartz and calcite veins.

Basalts are primary quality which showing high magnetism include magnetite. The systematic faults occured as NW-SE and NE-SW directions in the units. So secondary hematite, pyrite and chalcopyrite developed via hydothermal solutions which move on faults plane.

The sample of representing units are checked by chemical analysis. It has been identified that the basalts are tholeitic and its geotectonic location is NMORB. The basalts belonging to Neo-Tethys Ocean show tendency of fractional crystallization. The enrichment of LILE and impoverishment of HFSE existed. The units show negative Eu and positive Pb anomaly. The maximum rate of Fe is %17,32 and Cu is 546,07 ppm.
