Abstract

GIS Applications Laboratory at University of Arkansas at little rock will host Arkansas Geological Survey Clearinghouse and provide technological, GIS software, communication support. The GIS lab is equipped with latest GIS hardware and software and have highly qualified GIS professionals to support in an emergency event. The presentation will describe how the agreement was achieved, what services will be provided by each entity in an geohazard event and highlight how the data generated and gathered will be stored on the servers and made available to experts online. Use of location based software like ESRI’s ArcGIS has made it possible to map the data collected in the field to be quickly analyzed, processed and presented in a format which can be used by first responders to save lives and researchers to further study the impact of geohazard events.
