Abstract

Seismic attributes are seismic data aspects that provide enhanced details that would not be easily noticed by the untrained eye. For seismo-facies classification, we used a suite of seismic attributes, such as bandwidth, peakedness, and energy, extracted based optimized calculation parameters. The selected set of attributes enabled meaningful seismo-facies identification when compared with independent litho-facies from well-logs and drilling results. A CT micro-scan has been utilized to compare seismo-facies with pore architecture and gaining insight on porosity aspects as pertinent to controlling the seismic response of different lithofacies. The results of this project are strongly suggestive of three well-log facies and four seismo-facies of significant spatial expands with one facies of good reservoir properties. Modelling for composite fluid replacement (reservoir effective fluid and various level of CO2 saturation's) indicates challenges for time-lapse seismic monitoring programs.
