Abstract

The Art of Planetary Science is a graduate-student run art showcase which engages with both the public and the science community. The Art of Planetary Science in an annual exhibit hosted at the Lunar and Planetary Lab at The University of Arizona, where artists of all levels are welcome and encouraged to submit planetary and space-themed art. All types of media and artistic levels are allowed, and this creates a large opportunity for members of the public to engage with various STEAM-related components of The University of Arizona. The Art of Planetary Science works to show how data, models and scientific information can be taught and displayed through creative, artistic outlets. Many scientific fields comprise the field of planetary sciences, and this show works to bring together those fields such as: geology, biology, astronomy, engineering and atmospheric sciences. The art exhibit is currently in its 6thyear, and strives to communicate with those various fields that comprise planetary sciences. This project aims towards communicating with other STEAM education projects and components, with aspirations to encourage more scientists to visualize their important work with the public.
