Abstract
Quaternary Geophorms, such as Fans, Extensive alluvial fans, Sand bars, Cones, Coluvions, Alluvial plains, Flood plains, Plateaus, Beaches and alluvial terraces. The high and very thick alluvial terraces of the Southern Zone of the Middle Valley of the Magdalena River were presented during the GSA NC Section, Madison, WI, 2015. Active Sediment Geophorms, located in flood zones, bars, beaches and occasionally alluvial plains, all directly related to the east and west banks of the Middle Valley of the Magdalena River throughout the Middle Valley of the Magdalena River.
Tertiary rocks Geophorms: compact to semi-compact sedimentary rocks fine grains to conglomerate particles; usually, folded by tectonic effects (Honda Formation) and also, flat Geoforms with horizontal strata (Mesa Formation) are easy recognizably along the North of the sector.
Cretaceous rocks Geophorms: abrupt slope with escarpments in compact, very fine grain, dark marine sedimentary rocks of the Early Cretaceous Formations and clear strata of the Upper Cretaceous (i.e. Cimarrona Formation). They are geoforms that demonstrate the presence of geological structures (anticlines and synclines) from the municipality of Girardot-Cundinamarca- to the vicinity of Guaduas (Cundinamarca) and Honda (Tolima.) Drains with structural control occasionally cutting the synclinal structures along transverse faults.
