Abstract

This paper investigates and explores the possibility that the pre-existing geological conditions on Mars can allow for the sustainability of life and ecosystems. In researching and analyzing the composition of the terrain of Mars, along with the presence of resources such as water and ice, it can be determined

that Mars indeed has the potential to sustain life on its surface. With increasing temperatures and the excessive usage of finite natural resources, it becomes essential to explore other ways in which life can be sustained. Further research, such as the launch of the rover Perseverance, will allow the research outlined in the paper to be verified, augmented, and useful to draw sound-data-based definite conclusions about the hospitality of Mars’ terrain. Not only does this paper analyze the geological and chemical compositions of Mars, but it also addresses the implication of this research on the present and future survival of life as we know it.
