Abstract

Students at SUNY Broome Community College have been collecting data from the Dorman Creek watershed in the Town of Chenango, NY since 2008. This study focuses on a snow event that occurred on 12/22/2022 and how it affected the electrical conductivity and stage of the water in the creek. It suggests that road salting in response to snow events, followed by rapid melting, results in increased electrical conductivity in the creek, which is a part of the greater Susquehanna River Watershed. Furthermore, evidence shows that conductivity is greater downstream, which may imply a salt accumulation in the Susquehanna River.
