Abstract

The Bear Camp Gulch 7.5-minute quadrangle consists of a large, south- ward-plunging syncline, The Bear Camp syncline, consisting largely of Neoproterozoic Brigham Group siliciclastic and Cambrian carbonate sedimentary rocks. A small, fault-bounded basin in the southeast corner of the quadrangle contains approximately 400 meters (1,300 feet) of volcani- clastic and conglomeratic rocks of the Miocene upper Starlight Formation. Quaternary surfaces onlap all older units, and range from stream channel alluvium to landslide and colluvial lag deposits. Previous mapping of this area consisted of 1:48,000-scale, unpublished mapping by M.K. Corbett, and 1:100,000 scale mapping of Link and Stanford (1999).
