Abstract

The Intrusive Basemap of Utah is an in-depth compilation of mapping, geochemical, and geochronological data from surface-exposed igneous intrusive rocks across the state. This resource is designed to facilitate the study of Utah’s magmatic activity throughout its geologic history. The resulting geodatabase and map encompass 1900 km² of mapped intrusive units, over 1800 geochemical analyses, and more than 200 geochronological data points sourced from previous internal UGS compilations, the USGS National Geochemical Database, and the Utah Geochronology Database. Additionally, it highlights target locations for future sampling to address data gaps, particularly in geochronology, where high-precision U-Pb dating remains critically underrepresented. This compilation serves to advance our understanding of Utah’s magmatic activity, mineral potential, and overall geological history.
