276 Natural and Urban Channel Responses to Disturbance, Management, and Restoration
We seek talks evaluating how channels respond to perturbation. How are post-disturbance changes affected by the scale or type of disturbance? How is channel recovery aided or hindered by human involvement and/or natural processes?

Abstract
Texas rivers cross a wide range of geologic and climatic settings before reaching the Gulf Coastal Plain, shaping floodplains and posing diverse challenges for flood management. This talk offers a regional perspective on river behavior and water management in Texas, drawing on work with the Brazos River and the Gulf Coastal Plain to explore broader patterns in sediment transport, channel behavior, floodplain evolution, and human responses to flooding. This regional perspective of the San Antonio River will highlight the similarities and differences of Texas rivers. I’ll examine how the physical landscape, history, and management plans interact over time. Ultimately, it offers insight into past, present, and future mitigation plans across the state.
